People seem to compliment me most on my hair. I have natural highlights that stand out most
when I curl my hair. Curls make my hair look thicker than it really is because let me tell you, I have
very thin hair! Today I'm finally sharing how I curl my hair with an affordable curling wand that works wonders!

very thin hair! Today I'm finally sharing how I curl my hair with an affordable curling wand that works wonders!
While the curling wand is heating up, I coat my hair with this TRESemme heat protectant
spray then run a wide tooth comb through the strands to get each one evenly coated. I never
EVER use a heat tool without a thermal spray. Protecting hair from damage should always be
a proactive choice. The wand is a TIGI Bedhead 1.25" barrel that I have been loving!

Taking 2 inches of hair at a time, I curl away from my face. I always start with the top
half of my hair and clip it back so it's out of the way while I curl the bottom half.

Since this curling wand is HOT, I only hold the hair around the wand for 8 seconds. The longer
the hair is on the wand, the tighter the curl and less time on the wand will result in a loose curl.
If you have thicker hair, try using smaller sections of hair and leaving it around the wand for a
couple extra seconds. Not too long, or you'll burn your hair!

After the 8 seconds on the wand is up, I let go of the end of the hair and let it gently
fall off the wand. Then I spiral up the 2 inch section I just curled and hold it in my
had for 5 seconds. This helps the curl hold for longer!

Repeat curling 2 inch strands until everything is curled!
I generously set the curls with hairspray. My current favorite is the L'Oreal unscented, extra fine mist hairspray. It still has a scent but it's less assaulting on the senses. The fine mist is really nice for getting a more even spray.
Finally, after the curls have cooled, I run my fingers through the curls to separate
the curls. Then I'm good to go! For me, since I only wash my hair once a week,
my curls last the whole week! Sure, they go from bouncy curls to beach waves but
not having to apply heat to my hair more than once a week really saves my hair from being
over damaged.
